Abundant student activities are organised at university and institute levels to enrich your academic and social life, facilitating cross‑cultural communication.

1. SJTU International Student Service Center (ISSC)

The International Student Service Center (ISSC) organises a full calendar of activities open to all international students throughout the academic year, including new student orientation icebreakers, International Culture Festival, Chinese traditional culture workshops (calligraphy, handicrafts, cultural excursions), intercultural sports meets, seasonal parties, career sharing sessions, volunteer programmes and language exchange events. These activities create ideal opportunities to connect with peers from all over the globe, experience Chinese culture and smoothly adapt to life in Shanghai.

2. TDLI Postgraduate Union

The TDLI Postgraduate Union hosts a rich lineup of academic and recreational events for students within the institute, and warmly invites all international students to join and participate.

• Academic activities: Coffee with TDLI, journal clubs, postgraduate academic forums and student research sharing seminars;
• Social & outdoor activities: hiking trips, fun sports day, multicultural activities, international student luncheons and casual gatherings.

The union acts as a vital communication platform for all TDLI students. International students are encouraged to sign up for events, share your cultural background, offer your suggestions and build lasting academic and personal friendships with fellow students at the institute.
