This section applies to students receiving scholarships administered by the Chinese Government, Shanghai Municipality, SJTU or TDLI.

Scholarship Sign-in and Issuing

Scholarship Activation

1. Students who report to the school, complete the registration and pass the qualification review, the status of the scholarship students will become effective, and the scholarship will be issued after the status of the scholarship student becomes effective.

Semester and Monthly Sign-in

1. SJTU implements the issuing principle of sign-in first and then distribution, which includes semester & monthly scholarship sign-in. This regulation refers to all kinds of scholarships.
2. To receive semester and monthly scholarships, regular “scholarship sign-ins” are required before the scholarships can be distributed. Failure to complete the sign-ins on time will result in the suspension of the scholarship, which will NOT be reissued. 
   a.  The semester sign-in is linked to the school's registration system. Upon successful registration, the “scholarship sign-in” is initially considered complete.
   b.  After the semester registration has been completed, scholarship students must go to their respective schools for monthly sign-ins in order to continue receiving their scholarships. The monthly scholarship distribution list is subject to the sign-in list submitted by the school. If you encounter problems with the monthly sign-in, please contact your school/department.
   c.  Monthly Sign-in: Those who can NOT sign-in on time monthly are required to submit relevant explanatory materials to the academic affairs office.
   d.  *Students planning international travel should therefore confirm the possible scholarship implications before departure.

Absence from China

1. According to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education on the distribution of international student scholarships, if a scholarship student is outside of China for more than 15 days during the semester (excluding holidays) due to personal reasons, their scholarships will be suspended for theduration of their absence.
2. Important Reminders:
   a.  Scholarship recipients who receive disciplinary actions from the university will have their scholarships terminated or revoked based on the severity of the disciplinary measures. For details, please refer to “Measures of Administration for International Student Scholarships of Shanghai Jiao Tong University”.
   b.  Scholarship students who apply for study suspension, withdrawal from study or early graduation are required to return the live and accommodation allowance that has been disbursed in advance.
   c.  During the period of suspension from studies, scholarships will be suspended. Chinese Government Scholarship students are required to obtain approval from the China Scholarship Council for a leave of absence. If the approval is not granted, the scholarship will be cancelled, and the student’s status, upon resumption of studies, will be converted to a self-funded status.
   d.  For details on the criteria and amount of funding for various scholarships (Undergraduate students: isc.d@sjtu.edu.cn; Graduate students: gs.admission@sjtu.edu.cn; Exchange students: isc.exchange@sjtu.edu.cn). For any questions regarding their scholarship issuance (living allowance, accommodation, etc.), students can contact the ISC within two weeks after the distribution of the scholarship. SJTU Sign-in and issuing arrangement for Fall AY 2026-2027

（CSC Scholarships, Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarships, and SJTU Scholarships)

The schedule for scholarship sign-in and issuing for the Spring Semester of the 2026-2027 academic year will be announced in a follow-up notice.

TDLI International Graduate Scholarship

For TDLI Scholarships, if an admitted international student is awarded a scholarship funded by the Chinese Government, the Shanghai Municipal Government (including, but not limited to, the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) and the Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS)), or any other scholarship offered by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the TDLI International Graduate Scholarship will provide supplementary funding, where applicable, so that the student's total financial support reaches the TDLI scholarship standard without duplicating the same category of funding.

TDLI Scholarship Disbursement

The TDLI International Graduate Scholarship will be disbursed directly to the student's personal Chinese bank account.

Therefore, all new students are required to open a Chinese bank account. Medical insurance is not included in the scholarship and must be purchased separately by the student.

• First Disbursement for New Students

For students enrolling in the Fall semester, the first scholarship payment is generally made 2–3 months after enrollment. The first payment will include all scholarship funds accrued from the month of enrollment through December of the same year.

• Scholarship Disbursement for Continuing Students

Beginning in the second academic year, students who have successfully passed the annual scholarship review and completed the required monthly in-person check-in will receive their scholarship according to the following schedule:

• March: First Quarter (Q1) scholarship
• June: Second Quarter (Q2) scholarship

Subsequent scholarship payments will be arranged in accordance with the University's financial schedule.

• Conditions for Scholarship Disbursement

Scholarship payments are subject to the following conditions:

• Successful enrollment registration and scholarship eligibility verification;
• Completion of the required monthly check-in;
• Passing the annual scholarship review (for continuing students);
• No suspension of studies, withdrawal, disciplinary sanctions, or other circumstances affecting scholarship eligibility.

Students who suspend or withdraw from their studies will have their living allowance suspended from the effective date of the approved status change. Scholarship payments may resume upon reinstatement, subject to approval by the Graduate Affairs Office. Students who receive disciplinary sanctions will have their scholarship suspended or terminated in accordance with University and TDLI regulations.

If your scholarship has not been received as expected due to delays in opening a bank account, incorrect banking information, incomplete monthly check-in, or University financial procedures, please contact the Graduate Affairs Office promptly.
