All international degree students and visiting students must hold valid medical insurance covering the full period of their study or visit in China.

Degree Students

Degree students should purchase the required international student medical insurance through the platform and procedure designated by SJTU.

Purchase and registration instructions will be provided in the SJTU admission or registration materials.

Visiting Students

Visiting students must arrange insurance covering the full period of their stay.

TDLI or the relevant SJTU program may provide a recommended insurance provider or purchase channel by email. Unless the program specifically states otherwise, students may choose another suitable policy that provides appropriate coverage in China.

Students should consult the insurance company or policy website directly regarding:

• coverage;
• exclusions;
• eligible hospitals;
• reimbursement procedures;
• required supporting documents; and
• emergency assistance.
