The Training Plan and Course Enrollment
  • Training Plan

See 【上海交通大学关于攻读博士学位研究生培养工作的规定/Regulations of Shanghai Jiao Tong University on the training of Ph.D. Students】

https://www.gs.sjtu.edu.cn/post/detail/Z3MzMzg0

The specific articles are as follows:
1.  In accordance with these Regulations and the relevant discipline/professional degree training program, supervisors and supervisory committees shall guide doctoral students in developing a practical and feasible individual training plan within 2 weeks of enrollment, taking into account each student's specific circumstances. The training plan shall be reviewed and approved by the supervisor (or supervisory committee). Once approved, both the doctoral student and the supervisor shall strictly adhere to the training plan.
2.  If objective circumstances arise that prevent the approved training plan from being fully implemented, a revision application must be submitted during the designated training plan revision period (the first 2 weeks of each semester). The doctoral student shall complete the revision, which must then be reviewed and approved by the supervisor and supervisory committee before being submitted to the school/department for final review and record filing.

  • Course Enrollment

See 【上海交通大学研究生教学管理规定/Regulations of Shanghai Jiao Tong University on Graduate Course Administration】https://gs.sjtu.edu.cn/post/detail/Z3MzMzgz

The specific articles on course enrollment are as follows:
1.  For certain general education courses, teaching sections shall be assigned by the University in accordance with the relevant training programs and teaching arrangements, generally before the beginning of the semester in which the courses are offered. International students shall register for the courses “Chinese Language” and “Introduction to Chinese Culture” based on their own Chinese language proficiency. For certain specialized courses, teaching sections shall be assigned by the school/department in accordance with students’ training plans and departmental teaching arrangements. For courses for which no teaching section is assigned by the University or the school/department, students shall register through the course registration system on their own.
For courses with teaching sections assigned by the University or the school/department, students may apply for a change of section when necessary. Applications for section changes shall be submitted during Weeks 1–2 of the semester and approved by both the course instructor and the offering school/department before being processed by the Graduate School. Online course registration for Fall Semester courses is generally conducted during Weeks 1–2 of the Fall Semester. During this period, students may register for courses, attend trial classes, and adjust their course selections. Online registration for Spring Semester courses is generally conducted during Weeks 15–16 of the Fall Semester, while course audition and registration adjustments may be made during Weeks 1–2 of the Spring Semester. After the registration system closes, students may neither add nor drop courses. The University shall determine the final registration list based on student enrollment records. Students not included in the final registration list shall not be permitted to attend classes or take assessments, and no record of the course or credits shall be entered into their academic record.
Course registration for Summer Semester courses and physical education courses shall be conducted in accordance with notices issued by the Graduate School. In principle, teaching sections for Summer Semester courses may not be changed.

2.  After the course registration period has ended, students who must add, drop, or change courses due to changes in academic status, such as transfer to another institution, change of major, suspension of studies, or resumption of studies, may do so upon approval of the relevant academic status change and with the consent of both the course instructor and the offering school/department. For approved course withdrawals, no record of course attendance or assessment results shall be entered into the student's academic record. For approved course additions or changes, records of course study and assessment shall be maintained in accordance with Articles 20 and 25 of these Regulations.

Article 20: Students whose cumulative absence from a course, including approved leave, reaches or exceeds one-third of the total contact hours of the course shall not be permitted to take the course examination or assessment. The course shall be recorded as Fail.

Article 25: Graduate course assessment results shall be recorded using either an eleven‑grade letter grading system ranging from A+ to F or a Pass/Fail system. The corresponding percentage scores and grade points are shown below (applicable to graduate students enrolled in Fall 2016 and thereafter):
