Precise Measurements of Lepton Flavor Universality

星期三 2025-04-09 12:00 - 14:00 Dr.Qi-DongZhou, Shandong University (Qingdao) 5#6th-603 - Meeting Room 603

Abstract:

The study of lepton flavor universality violation (LFUV) offers a promising pathway for exploring new physics beyond the Standard Model, with the potential to indirectly scan the new physics of energy scale up to 10 TeV or even higher. An average LFUV with 3.3σ significance has been observed in the semileptonic decays of B mesons. This report will present recent LFUV-related measurements, especially from Belle and Belle II experiments.

Biography:

Qi-Dong Zhou, Professor of the Institute of Frontier and Interdisciplinary Science, Shandong University (Qingdao). Received BS (2009-2013) degree from Yokohama National University, Japan, obtained PhD from Nagoya University, Japan, in 2018. Joined High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), Japan, as a JSPS postdoctoral fellowship (2018-2020), became a tenure-track assistant professor (2020-2023) of the Institute of Advanced Research (IAR) and Kobayashi-Maskawa Institute (KMI), Nagoya University, Japan, then joined Shandong University in June 2023. In 2018, received “JSPS postdoctoral fellowship”,  in 2019, received “Young Scientist Award” of the Physics Society of Japan and “Cosmic-ray Physics Award” of Japan Cosmic-ray Physicists Congress, In 2022, was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China as “Excellent Young Scholars (Overseas)”. He has participated in the LHC-forward, RHIC-forward, and Belle II experiments. His research dedicated to explore new physics beyond the Standard Model, hadronic interactions (diffractive dissociation) with precise measurements, and the development of advanced trigger and data acquisition (TDAQ) systems for collider experiments.
