On the afternoon of 3rd Jan 2020, CPC Shanghai Jiao Tong University TDLI Directly Affiliated Party Branch Member Conference was successfully convened in the Conference Room 200 of TDLI, Minhang Campus. Zhou Peng, the Deputy Director of the Organization Department, SJTU Party Committee and the Vice President of the Party School, was invited to attend the conference. Zhao Xin, the Party Secretary of the TDLI Branch moderated the conference.

The event convened amid the solemn national anthem. First of all, Zhao addressed all party members in his work report titled “Build Cohesion, Seize every minute, Accelerate the Construction of TDLI into a World-Class Research Institute”. Zhao offered his overall review and summary of the work of the TDLI Party Branch in the last six months since its inception. Zhao said, since the founding of the Party Branch, the Branch has fulfilled its dual roles in political leadership and administrative safeguard to put work in place, bring cohesion, seize every minute, and strive to build the TDLI into the world-class research institute.

Next, an election within the Directly Affiliated Party Committee was held. Following previous communication with the superior Party organization, through full preparation and discussion among all Party members, 6 candidates were finalized (1 missing). In the voting session, every party member present fully exercised their voting rights and finally elected Li Shushu, Wu Jianda, Zhao Xin, Jiang Yanyuan, and Liao Ling as members of CPC SJTU TDLI Directly Affiliated Party Branch Committee in the secret ballot.

In the vote counting session, all members of the TDLI Party Branch watched the video clip of the Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong’s 2020 New Year Address. Through the video, all party members had a further understanding of the message that Shanghai aims at completing the process of building a moderately well-off society in all aspects at a higher level and outlining a basic framework to build itself into a technology and innovation center with global influence in the upcoming year. As an important part of Shanghai Science and Innovation Center, the year 2020 is also a critical year for TDLI. With the upcoming delivery of TDLI Laboratory Building, TDLI talent team, science and research, experiment platforms, communication and collaboration, social services, and other aspects will embrace a period of development and implementation in full swing. All members of TDLI Directly Affiliated Party Branch will be guided by reform, fueled by innovation, oriented towards progress, and always take the acceleration of TDLI construction as the priority.
