Professor Frank Wilczek, the laureate of a Nobel Prize in Physics in 2004 and also the first director of Tsung-Dao Lee Institute delivered a keynote Report entitled How to Help Scientists Conduct High-quality Research at Pujiang Innovation Forum which opened the morning of October 30th to provide suggestions to build Shanghai into a science and technology innovation center with global influence.

As a world-renowned theoretical physicist and mathematician, Frank Wilczek is a member of the American National Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a foreign academician of the Dutch Academy of Sciences, and a foreign academician of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. During the speech, Professor Wilczek conducted an in-depth analysis of how to train young scientists and how to better develop the world's top scientific research institutions with proper management mechanism. According to Frank Wilczek, scientific research is a long-term investment as seen in the history of the world's leading scientific research institutions, and it is necessary to provide young scientists with nourishment and long-term planning at the initial stage. Take a look at the development of many successful scientific research institutions in the world. We will learn that good talents should be attracted in the first place. It is more desirable to have talents who can complement one another. Let scientists be responsible for science, they will make the best judgment on the development of scientific research institutions. Once a scientific institution has recruited some good scientists, more outstanding scientists will follow. Research institutions should provide a good research environment for these outstanding talents to give their roles an place and opportunity for growth.

Frank Wilczek accepted the media interview after the keynote report. He said that Shanghai has a lot of advanced technologies and is a city that is very attractive to young people. Tsung-Dao Lee Institute has become part of the Shanghai Pudong Zhangjiang Science City project. He will spare no efforts to bring in the successful experiences in promoting the growth of scientists into Shanghai with sound international academic cooperation modes during the construction of Tsung-Dao Lee Institute. He hopes such efforts will propel Shanghai to be a city of a higher rung as a science and technology innovation center.
