The Tianyu Project, funded by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, plans to construct at least one wide-field telescope with a 1-meter aperture in Lenghu, Qinghai. This telescope will conduct high-precision photometric surveys aimed at detecting transit signals of long-period exoplanets and monitoring time-domain astronomical phenomena such as supernovae, variable stars, and asteroids. The Tianyu Telescope is scheduled for completion and trial observations in 2026.
To foster collaboration between the Tianyu Project and other domestic time-domain survey projects and to promote the exchange and sharing of scientific algorithms and project experience in time-domain astronomy, the Tianyu Project team plans to hold the second Tianyu Workshop (Tianyu Workshop II) at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute. This workshop will introduce the progress of the Tianyu Project in both hardware and software, discuss data processing workflows and signal detection methods, and explore opportunities for collaboration in the field of time-domain science in China. Additionally, the workshop will provide simulated and real time-domain scientific data to test current data processing and analysis algorithms, offering insights for the efficient analysis and mining of large-scale time-domain astronomical data.
The workshop is planned to take place in May, lasting for two days, and will accept presentations in both Chinese and English (English is recommended). This conference adopts a combination of invitation and open application for participation. Individuals applying through open application are required to pay a registration fee of 1000 yuan. Lunch, dinner, and tea break will be provided during the conference, while other expenses are to be borne by the participants themselves. We warmly invite colleagues interested in the Tianyu Project and time-domain astronomy collaboration, particularly experts and students engaged in astronomical data processing and analysis, to actively participate in this workshop and contribute to advancing the scientific goals of the Tianyu Project and other time-domain astronomy initiatives.
Due to time constraints, we do not guarantee that everyone can have a chance to give a talk.
