Professor John Ellis appointed Distinguished Visiting Fellow of TDLI

 


 

 

 

Tsung-Dao Lee Institute Director Frank Wilczek has made an appointment of Professor John Ellis as Distinguished Visiting Fellow of TDLI.

John Ellis is the Clerk Maxwell Professor of Theoretical Physics at King’s College in London. His research interests lie in particle physics, astrophysics, cosmology and quantum gravity. Among his many honors, John Ellis was awarded the Maxwell Medal (1982) and the Paul Dirac Prize (2005) by the Institute of Physics. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of London in 1985 and of the Institute of Physics in 1991.

John Ellis spent two weeks visiting TDLI in April, 2018. During his stay, he gave talks, advised students, and worked with faculty colleagues. In particular, he gave a seminar talk titled “Global Standard Model Effective Field Theory Fit to LHC and Electroweak Data”. He also presented the 99th Master Distinguished Lecture titled “What are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going?” at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
